Who is Dr. Sarah Morley?

Since her marriage in December 2002 Sarah is now known professionally as Sarah Morley Wilkins.

Biography

Dr. Sarah Morley has worked with computers and blind and visually impaired users since 1993, as a researcher, trainer, author and consultant.

Education:

• Sarah has a PhD in the ‘Design and Evaluation of Non-Visual Information Systems for Blind Users’ from the University of Hertfordshire (1999)
• First-class honours degree in Psychology from Royal Holloway, University of London (1993)
• Pupil at Nonsuch High School for Girls, in Surrey.
  

Experience:

• Dr. Sarah Morley has worked with computers and blind and visually impaired users since 1993, as a researcher, trainer, author and consultant.
• Sarah is the Director of the National Centre for Tactile Diagrams at the University of Hertfordshire, UK.
• Sarah has been involved in the design and evaluation of non-visual information systems since 1993, working first as a Research Officer in the Sensory Disabilities Research Unit at the University of Hertfordshire, UK.
• Sarah has been training users and their trainers since 1993 both in the UK and world-wide.
• Sarah's books and diagrams have been distributed world-wide, and have been translated into several languages.
• She is a consultant to a range of organisations, and since 1999 has been a consultant involved in setting up the BCAB Certification Scheme for Trainers of Assistive Technology (BTCS), administered by the British Computer Association of the Blind.

Awards:

Sarah’s books and training materials have won her several prestigious international awards.

Professional Affiliations:

• Sarah is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society
• An Associate Member of the Institute of IT Training (and a certified IT trainer)
• A member of the Society of Authors
• In 2000 was elected as an honorary full life-member of the British Computer Association of the Blind for her services to the field.

Personal Life:

• Sarah lives in Cambridge with her husband.
• Sarah has sung with Cambridge Chorale since 1997, a small Cambridge-based mixed-voice choir made up of experienced singers. The choir gives regular concerts in and around Cambridge, records commercial CDs and music for film, TV and radio, performs at weddings and business events, and tours annually.
